Hunting Safety Advice

Have a plan! Hunt your plan! Share your plan with someone in deer camp and on the home front. Do not deviate without first letting someone know what you are changing, and let them know what the changes are.

Chasing a wounded animal:

·  Wait 30 minutes before looking for and following a blood trail.

·  Wait 2-4 hours before looking for and following a blood trail if it crosses property lines.

·  Try to obtain land owner permission before crossing property lines. This can be challenging in our remote location. Better advice contact your neighbor before you hunt and get permission.

·  If land owner is not available call the Edwards County Game Warden or Sheriff and advise them of your intentions.

·  Wear a hunter orange safety vest and ball cap prior to crossing into neighboring properties. (This is especially important if you do not have the land owner’s permission.)

·  Treat your neighbor’s property better than you treat your own.

·  Tag and recover your animal and leave immediately. Field dressing can be done on your property.

Flash Flooding Occurs

Just a friendly reminder, while at the ranch flash flooding can occur with little to no notice.  Most of the year can be very dry, however when the rains come roads can flood quickly.  Last year was very wet out their and at times it was very difficult to get around.  Please do not take any chances when it comes to high water over the roadways.
